Puppy Socialization (or Puppy Play Group)

Get off to a great start with your new puppy! This a great environment to learn about your puppy and to build a positive life-long learning foundation. Puppies need to learn how to have fun playing with other puppies, and this class begins that socialization process that will benefit both you and your puppy. The puppies in this class have a lot of fun, and the owners do to! Plus we cover a lot of important concepts that begin an effective training process that will create a positive relationship between you and your dog, and a joyful experience!

Here are some highlights of this class:

  • Puppies from eight to twenty weeks are welcome.
  • We have a friendly and welcoming environment with lots of space.
  • We’ll cover why Positive Reinforcement is key to your puppy’s success.
  • You’ll learn what boundaries to set first.
  • You’ll learn how to shape behavior positively to prevent problem behavior in the future.
  • We’ll discuss why the formation of habits through conditioning is essential.
  • We’ll cover many fundamentals of care, such as housebreaking and properly using a crate.
  • You’ll learn how to tell if puppies are simply playing or getting too rough.
  • How to help the cautious or aggressive puppy
  • How to use Social and Food lures in a positive way
  • How to prevent food and object guarding
  • And, we’ll teach your puppy basic commands like sit, down, off, leave it, and to come consistently.

This is a five week class, with one-hour sessions one day a week for the duration. Class sizes are limited to four to eight dogs, and the fee is $105 for each five week class.

All classes are hosted by Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital, or Jennz Petz Grooming. Updated vaccination records are required.
